LABORATORY OF CHEMISTRY AND
MINERAL RAW MATERIAL TECHNOLOGY

The Scientific Supervisor: K.A.Nikiphorov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, corr-mem. of the Russian Academy of Technical Sciences, a Honored Scientific Worker of the Russian Federation.

The staff is comprised of 9 scientific workers, among them 7 Candidates of Sciences.

The avenues of the scientific-research work

    - Liquational separation in the process of processing of non-ferrous,
    rare-earth and noble metal ores.
    - Steam-and-gas roasting in the process of desulphurization and dearsenization
of polimetal ores and sulphurization of oxidized minerals.
    - Creation of technological basis for the concentration of slime-size ores,
placers and wastes containing fine and finely dispersed gold.
    - Physicochemical basis for the processing of alumina-, phosphor- and
silicon-containing raw materials and wastes. Obtaining of silicate materials.
    - Elaboration and improvement of the equipment for concentration of placers,
dynamic filtration of finely dispersed particles of suspension and slime dehydration.
Main scientific results

The scientific basis for directed synthesis of artificial chemical concentrates in the process of electrothermic melting
of non-ferrous, noble and rare-earth metal mineral products has been created.

Methods of obtaining of lead and silver from lead-silver ores; molibdenum trisulphide and tungsten trioxide from
concentration-resistant raw materials (pat. N.977396); alluvial gold and base bullion from gray and black alluvial sand
and iron scraps (pat. N.329881) have been developed.

The scientific basis for the unbalanced steam-and-gas technology in the "minerals – water steam" system
(at the water steam temperature higher than critical) has been developed. The designs are employed in utilization of
pyrite concentrates, extraction of rhenium, obtaining of arsenic in dissoluble sulphides and also for sulphidizing of oxidized
ores and obtaining of high-strength chemicals.

A method of concentration of slime-size ores containing finely dispersed particles (pat-s. N.1558488, N.1583174, n.1630850, the RF)
has been developed. The method is employd in processing of slime-size concentration-resistant ores and mercury-bearing
wastes of gold mining enterprises (pat. N.2055925, the RF) and in extraction of mercury from ground.

Designs and technical documentation of mobile washing units with advanced sluice characteristics have been created.
They allow to increase gold extraction by 18 – 20 % due to decrease in losses of fine gold and natural
gold (pat. N.2083701, N.2083702, the RF).

Designs of filters for solution containing finely dispersed particles of suspension (pat. N.1771103, N.1497822) have been developed.

The laboratory has elaborated the basis for reprocessing of aluminum potassium silicate raw materials into aluminum potassium sulphate
and cementing construction materials.

Semiconductor clusters of selenium and sulphide cadmium stabilized in cavities of solid dielectric porous moulds of zeolites and chabasites
were synthesized and studied.

In accordance with the optimized technology of directed chemical synthesis, clustered crystals of sulphate cadmium on the basis of zeolite
were obtained. In chabasite moulds by the method of physadsorption clusters Se 6 (Ch – Se) were obtained.

Proposals for cooperation

We are willing to cooperate with scientific-research teams in the fields of study listed above.

We propose designs and technical documentation of mobile washing units for placer concentration, a filter for solutions containing slimes and finely dispersed particles of suspension operating in the dynamic mode.
